Why the HT Designation Genuinely Matters
Base Incoloy 800 was never designed as a high-temperature specialist — it’s a solid general-purpose iron-nickel-chromium alloy, but at sustained temperatures well above 600°C, creep — the slow, permanent deformation a material undergoes under continuous stress at high heat — becomes the limiting factor for how long a fastener can genuinely stay in service.
800H tightens the carbon content upward within a controlled band specifically to improve that creep resistance, and 800HT goes a step further still — it adds tightened control over aluminum and titanium content as well, both of which influence the alloy’s precipitation behavior and directly affect how well it resists creep and maintains strength during extended exposure at genuinely high sustained temperatures, often cited in the range approaching 1100°C for certain service conditions.
That progression — 800 → 800H → 800HT — represents a real, deliberate engineering ladder, not three arbitrary names for the same material. Choosing the wrong rung means either overpaying for capability a moderate-temperature application doesn’t need, or underspecifying for a furnace or pyrolysis application that genuinely requires 800HT’s tightened composition control.
Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd. exports to over 50 countries, and our Incoloy 800HT fastener range is verified by chemical composition and mechanical testing under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
Where This Material Genuinely Applies
Genuine Sustained High-Temperature Creep Resistance
Tightened Al/Ti/C control provides real creep performance where base 800 and 800H fall short.
Correct Grade for Furnace-Level Heat
Genuinely suited to applications approaching 1100°C, beyond what standard 800 handles reliably.
Genuine Oxidation Resistance at Heat
Iron-nickel-chromium base composition resists scaling and oxidation during sustained high-heat exposure.
Verified Composition & Mechanical Properties
Batch testing confirms genuine Al/Ti/C control and mechanical properties for every lot.
800 → 800H → 800HT — a Deliberate Progression
Incoloy 800
Standard carbon control. Genuinely sufficient for moderate-temperature service where sustained creep isn’t the limiting factor.
Base GradeIncoloy 800H
Tightened carbon content within a controlled higher band, improving creep resistance for moderately elevated temperature service.
Mid-Tier GradeIncoloy 800HT (This Page)
Tightened carbon, aluminum, and titanium together, for genuinely sustained high-temperature creep resistance at the top of the family.
You Are Here800H vs 800HT — Quick Reference
Confirming genuine sustained service temperature before ordering avoids overpaying for composition control the application may not need. This table is the quick reference we use with buyers before quoting.
| Aspect | Incoloy 800H | Incoloy 800HT |
|---|---|---|
| Composition Control | Tightened carbon only | Tightened carbon, aluminum, and titanium |
| Creep Resistance | Improved over base 800 | Best in the 800 family |
| Typical Sustained Service Temperature | Moderately elevated | Genuinely high, approaching furnace conditions |
| Typical Use | Heat exchangers, moderate process heat | Ethylene furnaces, high-temperature process equipment |
