Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai — ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer and exporter of Nimonic 80A (UNS N07080) fasteners. Some nickel alloys resist high temperature mainly through their base chemistry alone. Nimonic 80A does something more deliberate — titanium and aluminum additions form a fine, dispersed gamma-prime phase throughout the microstructure during heat treatment, and that precipitation-hardening mechanism is specifically what gives this alloy its genuine strength retention at sustained high temperature.

Why Precipitation Hardening Genuinely Matters Here

A solid-solution-strengthened nickel alloy relies mainly on its base composition — chromium, molybdenum, and similar elements dissolved into the nickel matrix — for strength and corrosion resistance. That approach works well for a wide range of service conditions, but it isn’t the strategy that gives an alloy the highest possible strength retention specifically at sustained high temperature.

Nimonic 80A takes a genuinely different approach — titanium and aluminum are added specifically so that, during controlled heat treatment, they combine with nickel to precipitate a fine, evenly dispersed gamma-prime phase (Ni3(Ti,Al)) throughout the alloy’s microstructure. That precipitate physically blocks the movement of dislocations within the metal, which is the actual mechanism giving the alloy its high strength at temperature — not a side effect, but the deliberate purpose of the alloy’s design.

That’s exactly why Nimonic 80A became one of the foundational fastener alloys for early gas turbine engine development — turbine bolting needs to hold clamping load reliably at sustained high temperature and vibration, conditions where a solid-solution alloy alone would gradually lose strength faster than a properly heat-treated precipitation-hardened alloy does.

Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd. exports to over 50 countries, and our Nimonic 80A fastener range is verified by chemical composition and mechanical testing under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
