Why Both Acid Types Genuinely Matter
Acid attack on metal comes in two genuinely different chemical flavors — oxidizing and reducing — and the alloy chemistry that resists one well often does relatively poorly against the other. High-chromium alloys tend to handle oxidizing acids like nitric acid well, while high-molybdenum alloys tend to favor reducing acids like hydrochloric and sulfuric acid instead. Most nickel alloys, including several other Hastelloy grades, lean meaningfully toward one side of that divide.
C-2000 was developed specifically to reduce that trade-off — its composition combines a high molybdenum content with a genuinely unusual copper addition for this alloy family, giving it credible resistance to both categories in a single material, rather than forcing a choice between two different alloys depending on which acid dominates a given process stream.
That matters most in mixed-acid or variable-process environments — chemical plants where the exact acid concentration or oxidizing/reducing balance shifts during a process cycle are exactly where a single-purpose alloy risks being wrong part of the time, and C-2000’s broader resistance profile is the practical answer to that uncertainty.
Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd. exports to over 50 countries, and our Hastelloy C-2000 fastener range is verified by chemical composition and mechanical testing under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
Where This Material Genuinely Applies
Genuine Dual-Acid Resistance
Credible performance against both oxidizing and reducing acid attack, unusual for a single alloy.
Correct Choice for Variable Process Streams
Reliable where acid concentration or chemistry shifts during operation, unlike single-purpose alloys.
Genuine Sulfuric & Hydrochloric Acid Resistance
Handles two of the most common aggressive process acids in a single material specification.
Verified Chemical & Mechanical Properties
Batch testing confirms genuine composition and mechanical properties for every lot.
Choosing Between Related Hastelloy Grades
Hastelloy B3 — UNS N10675
Optimized specifically for reducing acid environments like hydrochloric and sulfuric acid, where oxidizing conditions genuinely aren’t present.
