What Is a DIN 99 Clamping Lever

Plenty of adjustment points on machinery and fixtures need to be locked and released constantly — a guard that opens for cleaning, a fixture stop that’s repositioned between job runs, a machine handle adjusted throughout a shift. Fastening these with a plain nut and bolt works, but it means reaching for a spanner every single time, and the lever ends up in a different rotational position after every adjustment. A DIN 99 clamping lever solves both problems at once.

The lever arm gives enough mechanical leverage to develop real clamping force by hand alone, no tool required. And critically, the internal mechanism — typically a ratchet tooth arrangement or a spring-loaded push-back cam — lets the operator lift the lever axially, disengage it from the locked position, and swing it back to a convenient starting angle without loosening the actual clamping thread underneath. Release the lever and it re-engages, ready to be tightened again from wherever it’s most comfortable to grab.
