What Is a DIN 261 T-Head Bolt
A DIN 261 T-head bolt — also called a hammer head bolt or T-slot bolt — is built to solve a specific clamping problem: securing a workpiece, vice, fixture, or die set directly onto the T-slots machined into a milling table, drill press bed, or press bolster, without needing a threaded hole in the table itself. The rectangular “T” head slides into the slot and rotates a quarter-turn to lock under the slot’s overhang, taking the clamping load in shear against the slot walls rather than relying on the head bearing on a flat surface.
Getting the head width and height right against your specific T-slot size (per DIN 650) matters more than with a standard hex bolt — too loose a fit and the bolt rocks under load; too tight and it won’t seat into the slot at all. That’s exactly why a size-by-size dimension and weight reference is useful before ordering, rather than assuming one “M12 T-bolt” fits every M12-rated slot.

Standard nominal dimensions and approximate weight by thread size — head width (b) and head height (k) are the two figures to check first against your table’s T-slot size (per DIN 650) before ordering. Weight is given per piece at a 50mm reference shank length; actual weight scales with the ordered length and should be recalculated for your final bill of materials.
