Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai — ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer of screws across every major category: wood, self-tapping, machine, self-drilling, and drywall, in carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and coated finishes. A screw creates or engages its own thread as it is driven, usually turned by a screwdriver bit directly into material or a pilot hole, without a nut on the opposite side — a genuinely different fastening principle from any bolt in our range. M2–M12. Full MTC, coating and passivation documentation as applicable. Export 50+ countries.

A Genuinely Different Fastening Principle From Every Bolt in Our Range

Anatomy of a Screw — Self-Threading, No Nut Required

A screw works on a fundamentally different principle from every bolt on our site. A bolt is designed to be used with a nut, or into a hole that has already been tapped with a matching thread, and is typically torqued using a wrench acting on the head. A screw instead creates or engages its own thread as it is driven — cutting or forming that thread directly into wood, sheet metal, plastic, drywall, or a plain pre-drilled pilot hole, with no nut required at all, and typically turned by a screwdriver bit.

Because a screw’s holding strength comes entirely from the thread it forms in the surrounding material, pilot hole size, material thickness, and thread pitch all matter enormously to correct screw performance in a way that doesn’t apply the same way to a bolt threading into an existing tapped hole or nut. Getting the screw type matched correctly to the base material — wood, thin sheet metal, or drywall — is the single most important specification decision for this product category.

This page covers our complete screw range across all base materials and coatings — for the full technical detail on stainless steel screws specifically, including passivation and drive-type selection, see our dedicated Stainless Steel Screws page.

Four Reasons Screws Are the Correct Choice for Direct Fastening

Why Screws — Fast, Direct Fastening Without a Nut

01

No Access Needed to the Opposite Side

Because a screw’s holding thread forms in the material itself, it can be driven from one side alone with no need for tool access, a nut, or a clearance hole on the far side of the joint.

02

Fast, Single-Operation Installation

A power driver can seat a screw fully in one continuous operation, particularly with self-drilling types that bore their own pilot hole — significantly faster than a bolted connection requiring separate drilling, tapping, and torquing steps.

03

Available Across Every Common Base Material

Wood, sheet metal, plastic, drywall, and pre-tapped machine applications each have a purpose-built screw type — the correct fastener exists for essentially any thin or self-threadable base material.

04

Full Range of Material and Coating Options

From economical zinc-plated carbon steel through fully passivated stainless steel, screw material selection follows the same corrosion, strength, and cost trade-offs as our bolt and nut range.

Five Functional Categories

Screw Categories We Manufacture

Each category threads into a different base material by a genuinely different mechanism.

DIN 96/97 · M4–M10

Wood Screws

Coarse, deep thread cutting directly into timber with only a plain pilot hole needed.

DIN 7981/82 · M2–M8

Self-Tapping Screws

Sharp thread cutting its own mating thread into thin sheet metal or plastic.

DIN 84/85 · M2–M12

Machine Screws

Uniform machine thread for use with a nut or pre-tapped hole — bridges screw and bolt logic.

Drill Point · M4–M8

Self-Drilling (Tek)

Integral drill tip bores its own pilot hole through sheet metal in a single operation.

Bugle Head · M4–M8

Drywall Screws

Fine or coarse thread with a bugle-shaped head that seats without tearing paper facing.

Choosing the Right Head Profile

Screw Head Types We Manufacture

Head shape determines bearing area, flush-mount capability, and finished appearance.

Pan Head

Rounded top with a flat bearing face — the most common general-purpose head profile.

Flat / Countersunk

Conical underside sits flush with the surface for a snag-free, finished appearance.

Round Head

A domed, decorative profile providing a larger bearing surface than a flat head.

Hex Washer Head

Integral washer and hex drive combine wrench-driving with a wide bearing area.
