Blind Rivets
Mumbai · India
Why One-Side Access Genuinely Matters
A solid rivet like MS20426 needs someone on the back side of the joint holding a bucking bar while the driven head is formed — which is simply impossible in a great deal of real aircraft and equipment structure. Wing box interiors, sealed fuel tank structures, thin-walled tubing, and countless enclosed assemblies have exactly one accessible face, and a blind rivet exists specifically to fasten through that single accessible face without ever needing the far side at all.
The mandrel-pull mechanism is what makes this possible — a setting tool grips the mandrel stem protruding from the rivet head and pulls it through the rivet body, which expands and flares against the back of the material as the mandrel is drawn tighter, forming a blind head entirely from the accessible side. Once fully set, the mandrel snaps off cleanly at a pre-engineered break point, leaving a finished, structurally sound rivet with no visible sign that installation happened from only one side.
Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd. exports to over 50 countries, and our blind rivet range is manufactured across aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and Monel, verified by shear and pull-through testing under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
Where This Specification Genuinely Applies
Fastens Where the Far Side Is Unreachable
Enables reliable riveting in closed structures where a bucking bar simply can’t be placed.
Faster Single-Person Installation
One person with a setting tool can install the rivet without a second worker on the far side.
Precise, Repeatable Mandrel Break
Engineered break point ensures consistent finished rivet length and clamp-up quality every time.
Verified Shear & Pull-Through Strength
Batch testing confirms genuine shear and pull-through performance, not just correct dimensions.
Blind Rivet Options Explained
Aluminum Blind Rivets
Lightweight standard option for general aircraft and equipment assembly where high strength isn’t the priority.
Steel-Mandrel Aluminum Body
Higher shear strength than an all-aluminum rivet, with a steel or stainless mandrel core for added integrity.
Monel Blind Rivets
Corrosion-resistant Monel option for marine, chemical-exposure, or dissimilar-metal aluminum joint applications.
Blind Rivets vs MS20426 Solid Rivets
Confirming whether the far side of the joint is genuinely accessible determines whether a solid or blind rivet is the correct choice. This table is the quick reference we use with buyers before quoting.
| Aspect | MIL-DTL-32258 Blind Rivet | MS20426 Solid Rivet |
|---|---|---|
| Access Required | One side only | Both sides (bucking bar needed) |
| Installation Speed | Faster, single-person | Slower, typically two-person |
| Typical Strength | Good, application-dependent | Generally higher for equivalent size |
| Best Suited For | Closed structures, blind access | Open external skin surfaces |
