Titanium Grade 5
Bolt, Nut & Fasteners
Manufacturer Mumbai

Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai — ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer and exporter of Titanium Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V, UNS R56400) bolts, nuts, studs, and washers. Grade 5 is the alpha-beta titanium alloy that made titanium fastening practical outside the lab — roughly half the weight of steel at comparable strength, fully corrosion resistant in seawater and most process chemicals, and non-magnetic. Where a fastener’s mass, corrosion life, or fatigue performance genuinely matters, Grade 5 is usually the alloy under discussion.

What Is Titanium Grade 5

Of the roughly thirty-eight titanium grades registered with ASTM, Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) accounts for the majority of titanium tonnage used worldwide — and it’s almost always the grade people mean when they simply say “titanium fastener.” It’s an alpha-beta alloy: 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium added to commercially pure titanium give it roughly double the strength of the unalloyed grades, while retaining titanium’s core advantages of low density and excellent corrosion resistance.

The appeal is the strength-to-weight ratio. A Grade 5 fastener delivers tensile strength in the same range as many alloy steels at roughly 60% of the weight, without the corrosion allowance steel needs in seawater, chlorides, or oxidizing acids. It’s also non-magnetic and has a low coefficient of thermal expansion relative to steel — properties that matter as much as raw strength in aerospace, subsea, and instrumentation applications.

Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd. exports to over 50 countries, and our titanium range is manufactured under the same ISO 9001:2015 quality system and full mill test documentation as our stainless, duplex, and nickel alloy fasteners.

Why Buyers Choose Titanium Grade 5

Where Grade 5 Genuinely Earns Its Cost

Roughly Half the Weight of Steel

At comparable tensile strength, Grade 5 fasteners weigh significantly less than steel equivalents — a genuine advantage where mass reduction directly affects performance or cost.

Excellent Seawater & Chloride Resistance

Titanium’s stable oxide layer resists pitting and crevice corrosion in seawater and chloride-rich environments without needing the alloying stainless relies on.

Non-Magnetic & Low Thermal Expansion

Useful in instrumentation, MRI-adjacent hardware, and precision assemblies where magnetic permeability or differential thermal expansion is a real design constraint.

Proven Aerospace Pedigree

Decades of flight-critical service history behind Ti-6Al-4V give buyers a well-documented fatigue and mechanical property track record to specify against.

The Real Question Buyers Ask

Grade 5 vs Grade 2 vs Grade 23 vs Grade 7

“Titanium fastener” isn’t a single specification — the grade you actually need depends on whether the priority is raw strength, weldability, fracture toughness, or resistance to a specific reducing acid. The comparison below is the one we walk through with buyers before quoting, so the grade selected matches the real mechanical or corrosion requirement rather than defaulting to “Grade 5” by habit.
