Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd. has manufactured Monel fasteners for the chemical process, offshore, naval, and desalination industries since 1998. Both Monel grades share a common Ni-Cu binary alloy composition — at least 63% nickel with 28–34% copper — and identical, permanent seawater and HF acid corrosion immunity. The selection between K500 and 400 is determined entirely by bolt load requirement: Monel K500 is age-hardened to ≥1000 MPa for high-load Class 900–2500 flanges; Monel 400 remains annealed at ≥480 MPa for Class 150–600 and lower-load applications.

Unlike stainless steels which rely on a passive chromium oxide layer that breaks down in seawater, HF acid, and brine environments, Monel alloys are thermodynamically stable in these media — they do not require cathodic protection, surface treatment, or passivation to maintain corrosion immunity. This is why Monel is the standard specification for seawater pump flanges, desalination plant pressure circuits, HF alkylation unit piping, offshore FPSO riser clamps, and naval equipment where permanent corrosion immunity is non-negotiable.
