Forged Disc

Our forged flange range covers a finished, bored, faced, bolt-holed component. A forged disc is genuinely different: it is the raw, completely solid circular blank straight off the upsetting press, before any secondary machining, boring, or feature-cutting is done to it — no bore at all, no punched hole. It’s the earliest-stage forged product in this shape category, purchased as raw stock rather than as a finished component.

Here is why buying the raw disc, rather than a finished forged flange or ring, matters to specific buyers. Because the disc is completely solid and unmachined, the buyer — typically a machine shop, a valve or pump manufacturer, or a fabricator — retains complete freedom to machine the bore, thickness, and face features to their own exact custom specification: off-center bores, non-standard bolt patterns, stepped faces, or asymmetric machined features that a standard catalog flange or ring could never accommodate. And they still benefit from the same genuinely radially-oriented grain flow that upsetting produces — the same structural benefit a forged flange has — since the radial grain is already present in the blank before any custom machining is even decided.

A genuine, honest limitation is worth stating plainly. Because a solid disc has not yet had its bore machined out, a buyer ordering a disc takes on the full machining workload and cost themselves — boring, facing, drilling the bolt pattern — work that a finished forged flange has already had done as part of the manufacturing price. A raw forged disc is genuinely not the economical or practical choice for a buyer who simply needs a standard catalog flange size. It’s a deliberate choice specifically for buyers who need genuine custom geometry that no standard finished forged component could satisfy.
