Engineered to Drawing

When a fastener is engineered to a customer’s own drawing, that drawing genuinely becomes the entire specification, since there is no independently published external standard, such as ASME, DIN, or ISO, to fall back on for any dimension, tolerance, or requirement the drawing itself does not explicitly state.

Here is why this matters. Because there is genuinely no external standard to complete any gap in the drawing, an omitted tolerance, surface finish callout, or thread class on a custom drawing cannot be filled in by assuming a typical or reasonable value, the way a gap in a purchase order for a standard catalog part can often be resolved by referring to the relevant published standard’s default requirements.

A genuine, honest limitation is worth stating plainly. Because the drawing is genuinely the sole authority, any ambiguity or omission in it must be resolved through direct clarification with you before production begins, rather than through our own judgment. Submitting an incomplete or ambiguous drawing genuinely shifts error-catching onto this clarification cycle rather than a known published standard, which can genuinely add lead time compared to ordering a standard catalog part with an established reference to fall back on.
