Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai — ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer and exporter of solid and blind aircraft rivets. Which rivet is correct for a given joint comes down to one question that overrides every other consideration — can both sides of the joint actually be reached during installation? Our solid countersunk rivets and mandrel blind rivets exist specifically to answer that question in opposite ways.

Question That Decides the Choice

One Question That Overrides Everything Else

Why Access Decides the Rivet, Not Load Alone

It’s tempting to choose a rivet purely by strength requirement, but access reality comes first every time. A solid rivet forms its driven head by bucking — someone has to hold a bar against the tail while the head is formed from the accessible side, which simply requires both faces of the joint to be reachable during assembly. There is no strength number that changes that physical requirement.

A blind rivet exists purely to remove that requirement — its mandrel-pull mechanism forms the retaining head entirely from one accessible face, which is why it’s the only real option in closed box structures, sealed fuel tank sections, or thin tubular members where the far side genuinely cannot be reached. Once access is confirmed as the deciding factor, strength, material, and head style become the next questions to work through.

Akbar Fasteners Pvt. Ltd. exports to over 50 countries, and both our solid and blind rivet ranges are manufactured with controlled dimensional and material properties, verified using NASM1312 shear test methods under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system.

Why Buyers Specify Military Rivets

Where This Category Genuinely Applies

Correct Rivet for the Access Reality

Choosing solid vs blind by actual joint access, not just strength, avoids assembly-stage surprises.

Genuine Flush-Surface Option

MS20426’s countersunk head gives real aerodynamic benefit on external skin surfaces.

Genuine Closed-Structure Option

MIL-DTL-32258’s blind mechanism reaches wing box and sealed structure no solid rivet can.

Verified Shear & Material Properties

Batch testing under defined NASM1312 methods confirms genuine strength for the ordered material and size.

The First Question to Ask

Solid vs Blind — Quick Reference

Confirming access before anything else avoids specifying a rivet that can’t physically be installed. This table is the quick reference we use with buyers before quoting.
